Sometimes You Can’t Judge a Device from the Outside
Everyone has heard to not judge a book by its cover. The same can be said when shopping for a new electronic cigarette or MOD. Just because the device looks sleek, comes in bright colors or is the same general size as your last one does not mean it will deliver the level of experience for which you are looking. While you may not be able to test every feature and function, you should examine some basics before committing to your purchase.
One of the biggest factors affecting the comfort of the vaping experience is the size of the Units. E-cigs and MODs come in many lengths, widths and circumferences. Depending on the size of your hands, you may feel more comfortable with a slimmer than average design or you may feel more secure with an e-cigarette that has a width like that of a cigar. Maybe you find a smooth surface more comfortable while others may feel more secure in their grip with some surface texture like with a MOD.
Another consideration should be the weight of the device. Most devices out there are significantly heavier than their tobacco-based counter parts. You will want to find a weight that feels good in your hand and that allows you a comfortable grip. Additionally, how the weight is balanced in the unit will affect the overall experience. This can be easily tested in most retail stores that have sample models out to be handled by customers.
The last component to examine is the draw. This includes how much vapor is produced as well as how hard you must pull air in to vape with it. Not all stores will be equipped to allow you to sample this firsthand. Having multiple customers test on one mouth piece is potentially unsanitary and they may not have a suitable substitute available for test runs. In cases such as these, you may need to rely on the advice of store personnel or outside reviews. You may also be able to make some initial estimates based on how many strength settings are available. While it isn't a perfect test, it's a start.
